World Cup Warm-Up: Cameroon 1-Slovakia 1

Earlier today, the Slovaks played Cameroon in Klagenfurt, Austria as part of their World Cup training. Slovakia should have won the game, but a late goal by Eyong Enoh meant that the Indomitable Lions escaped with the draw.
Midfielder Kamil Kopúnek scored his first goal for the national squad six minutes in, and what a beautiful goal it was! Stanislav Šesták nearly claimed a second goal in the second half but it was disallowed by the referee for apparently not crossing the goal line. Good news also in that Martin Škrtel played following some injury worries- he earned a yellow card but did what he had to do, hopefully game time helps his fitness.
Overall, this was a pretty good result against a pretty good team. However, my philosophy about pre-World Cup friendlies is that, as long as the team gets warmed up and work on their team play, the result really doesn’t matter.
Slovakia play another friendly next Saturday against Costa Rica at home in Bratislava.
