Slovakia’s Turn
Since the break up of Czechoslovakia, The Slovaks have failed to qualify for a major international tournament.
Their arch rivals the Czech Republic have been the number one team in Eastern Europe for most of the decade. Semi-Final finish at Euro 2004 was the teams highlight while Slovakia’s was getting hammered by the Spaniards in a Play off.
A fairytale run during the Qualifying campaign for South Africa saw the Slovaks defeat arch rivals the Czech Republic in Prague 2:1 and impressive wins home and away to Poland insured qualification for its first major tournament as an independent nation ending years of living in the Czech Republic’s shadow and causing major celebrations across the country.
It’s Slovakia’s turn to show the world what it has to offer! Turning over the mantle of watching the World Cup on tv to their neighbors!
