Lightning over Africa (blesky nad Afrikou)

Slovakia have been drawn in Group F alongside defending champions Italy, the ever impressive Paraguay and 2010’s whipping boys to be New Zealand. Like their anthem Nad Tatrou sa blýska which means Lightning over the Tatras come June it will be blesky nad Afrikou (Lightning over Africa)

What are the chances? Many predict the boys in blue will finish behind Italy and Paraguay. Slovakia being the underdogs will play with more confidence and will be eager to show the world that they can play the beautiful game with a lightning touch.

Many people still think that Czechoslovakia is a country but thats ancient history! Its Slovakia and its time they put themselves on the world map for good!

New Zealand
Easy three points first up? It will defently be a battle but Slovakia should get the win and open its WC account. Goal difference maybe decisive so lets not stop at one goal.

Paraguay
This will be a true WC battle! The South Americans are getting better and better! They could be the hardest team to face in the group so Slovakia will be cautious and propbably coming into the game with three points the blues will look to confirm their passage in the knockout stages! Paraguay will be a big big threat though so lets not get comfortable yet.

Italy
The defending world champions are group favorites like in every major tournament they play in. Slovakia will fancy their chances against a ageing Azzurri side. The ball is in Italy’s half but what will they bring to the WC? Slovakia will have an excellent opportunity in the last game of the group stages to hold destiny in its own hands! thats offcourse they get needed points against the other two opponents.
